Computer Histories VIIII
Wm. Eaton of Lakeport California recently donated several Hewlett Packard items he used for college in South Africa. He writes us the following story.
The HP27 was purchased for my MBA course at the University of Cape Town, South Africa in 1977. It cost $200 which was exactly one month's rent of my apartment at that time! If only rents cost the same as a calculator today!
The HP38C was used mainly as a sales forecasting tool in my job as a marketing manager in Johannesburg. Both travelled to the USA with me in 1992 and I used them in survey research until they were overtaken by PC based software. They then sat in my closet for about 15 years until now.
