Coleco Adam

As more companies jumped on the microcomputer bandwagon, toy manufacturer Coleco offered the Adam in 1983. Unfortunately, while the basic design was adequate, its quality control program was horrendously bad. At one point, one in three new Adams were defective and repair and replacement costs placed the company in jeopardy. The Adam was discontinued in 1985, but Coleco soon foundered and was liquidated. This example was donated by Lisa and Gary Schipritt of Charlestown, Rhode Island.
