This 36-bit L-Machine was manufactured by Symbolics of Cambridge, MA, a spin off from the MIT AI Lab. It was introduced in 1985 and runs the Genera operating system. It was designed for running and developing Artificial Intelligence software. By 1995 the company was bankrupt because of management problems and the decline of the AI market.
