StorageTek Timberline 9490 Tape Library and Wolf Creek 9360 Controller and Tape Transport

Donated by Georgetown University on December 11, 2001.

As part of the Aerosoft Cray J90 rescue, Merle Peirce stopped in Washington, D.C. on the return from Blacksburg and with the help of Albert Green and his assistant, loaded the machine, which is very large and unweildy. The unit consists of a Timberline 9490 Tape Library and Wolf Creek 9360 Controller and Tape Transport.

When this system was introduced in 1995 it was the fastest tape library available. The 36-track tape drives can handle data at 20 MB/Sec.
