Patricia Campbell of Los Altos California recently donated several Hewlett Packard items given away as prizes for math competitions.  She writes us the following story.

“Patricia Campbell’s son Daniel Patrick Marin, excelled in math and most other subjects from an early age.  When he graduated from high school in 1996, he was selected by USA Today as one of 20 outstanding seniors in the country.

The public school system allowed David Patrick to accelerate (his education) in math by also attending Foothill College, a local community college.  By the time he entered UC Berkeley as a freshman, he had already completed all the lower division math requirements.

 While in high school, David Patrick participated in many math contests. The donated items (HP 200LX and HP 38G) represent prizes from one or more of these contests. “
