Nintendo Game Boy Color

The Game Boy Color released in 1998 and featured an 8-bit SOC and color TFT reflective LCD Display unlike its predecessors. Unlike the previous Game Boy revision, the Japanese-only Game Boy Light, the Game Boy Color does not have a backlight requiring after market accessories for playing in the dark.

 The Game Boy Color had its own library of exclusive games featuring color graphics, but was also compatible with the previous Game Boy titles. An exclusive feature that was debatably not very utilized was its ability for IR communication with an IR sender/receiver at the top of the device used in games such as Pokémon Crystal (Japanese Version Only) to communicate with other copies of the game and the Pokémon Pikachu 2 GS portable. Standout titles include: Super Mario Bros. DX, Donkey Kong Country, Pokémon Crystal Version, and The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX.
